A 7 Million Dollar Treehouse

April 21st, 2008

On the grounds of Alnwick Gardens in Scotland stands the world largest tree house. This monster soars 56 feet above the ground, and is connected with 4,000 square feet of suspended walkways. The 7 million dollar behemoth is outfitted with Canadian Cedar, and Scandinavian Redwood. Housing a restaurant that seats 120, and serves produce grown by local farmers. Apparently you can even rent this bad boy for a party, although that might pose a potential fire hazard.

The tree house to end all tree houses

Obviously built with greenability in mind the owners state:

““The unique dining experience on offer in The Treehouse is nothing if not unusual. The roaring log fire in the centre of the room, the living tree complete with green leaves growing through the restaurant, the fascinating craftsmanship which has created screens from fallen branches and the dimmed lighting combine to create an other-wordly, magical environment. The delicious menus include a fantastic range of locally sourced produce, helping The Garden encourage and support local producers.”

With dedication, and beer perhaps you could build one of these monsters in your own backyard. Sure you might have to leave out the fireplace but eh, it would still be cool!
